All had snacks on Vikrant and attended a show by Navy.

A nice and memorable trip altogether.

Vikrant Tour

An appeal by Indian Navy in local news papers to visit Vikrant Ship, our group members have visited Vikrant on 13th Nov.2010 @ 9 a.m.

All were on board for 4 hrs. going through the down memory lane about the history of Vikrant, wars fought by Her and many things told by the Navy attendends.

An apportuinity

After resigning from my 16 yrs. old job I joined Rubina Chavan, our Eki friend who is organising exihibitions. I begain to work with her and under her guidence and financial arrangement we together organised an exihibition in Virar on 3rd Oct.The event was successful. I comapred it whole day and liked by all.

I thank Rubina to be a part of this.

Our another friend Vandana from Goregaon East with her sister Sangita, also participated by taking 1 stall for buttermilk sell. It was sold by noon.She earned some money but an experience of lifetime.

And she desired to be part of Rucha Exihibitirs in future too.

2 skits.

On my friend Rubina's request I had written 2 small skits about our day to day life and thoughts.She liked both and invited me to perform on the occassion of pooja at her Bank on 21 Aug.2010.So last week we were busy with practice.Geeta and I were meeting daily for practice. She has given me full support and performed well as she had lengthy diologues in both the skits.I could do it on her support only. I invited 2 old Eki group friendsand both of them have attended and cheered up us.

I thank them.And my Malumawshi and her friend both 75 yrs. of age. also attended the prog.

I think that performing is not that important but to get an apportunity to do it and presence of our dear ones cheers up.

I have same feelings.

Varsha Sahal

Hi,
Our new friend Amita Dabke from Kalyan invited and arranged for varsha sahal to a place nearby Karjat.
On arrival pohe and tea for breakfast, visit to nearby waterfall, modak and masalebhat for lunch and evening tea was arranged for all of us 9 friends by Mrs.Vrunda and her family. Rs.125/- per head was contributed.
It was a well planned,enjoyable and green picnic.
As it was on Wednesday, an odd day, few could attend but on Sunday the place is crowded and diffcult to enjoy.
Amita was inviting to play after lunch but after a heavy and tasty lunch, it was really diffcult to be awake...... and I just laid down for 1.5 hour for a wamkukshi. Of course it was needed after mejwani.

Marathi Drama @ Nehru Cetre,Worli.

Hi,
As mentoned earlier I have seen 4 dramas till date. I would like to write about " Khidkya". A german script translated by Mr./Ms.Mahajan and directed by Girisg Joshi of Final Draft.
Drama is about aging slowly and cutting off from others and others have no option but to see the dying.
Khidkya means Windows of Internate.The old lady try to connect hereself with blogwriting but gradually understands the meaningless ness of it .
I see myself related to this from now.

Hi,
In the month of January 2010, I came across an article in Marathi daily "Loksatta"about Wave and its activity about women empowerment. Students were allowed to make a vdo about W.Emp. I contacted Mr.Prashant More, the reporter, and asked for Ms.Apoorva Shaligrm's no. He happily gave the same and I contacted Apoorva. After knowing about our group,she liked the subject and shooting took place in my resi. in Mulund ,at Virar and @ our meeting place @ Dadar.Group members expressed their views and support from Eki. After 6 months the complete vdo has been uploaded on youtube.The link is youtube apoorva shaligram_welcome to the sisterhood.
I thank Apoorva for helping all of us to document the group, without charging any penny.

14th Theatre Festival 2010

Hi,
14th Theatre Festival 2010 will start from 2nd. Since long I was missing it but this year as I am not on job, I am attending the festival. For that today at 7.30 a.m. I was present @ Nehru Centre to collect the free passes. I am planning to see 6 shows including 1 english and 1 urdu.
It's a nice atmosphere and feeling altogether to be a part of the festival.

Hi to all,
Our member who is just 75 yrs. young has taken a great pain and published an informative article about our group,its strength,its future plans and importence to all of us in Marathi Daily Pudhari on Monday,19tn July 2010. The article is penned by Jaywanti Nimkar, who was a journalist earlier. Oue member Mrunalini Surve has helped her to send it to the press but Ms.Nimkar's name is not appeared in the news. And as per Pudhari's policy they are not publishing members phone nos./emails or other identity as well, as it will be an advertise. But the article is informative and who wish to join us may contact Pudhari office and get the nos.
So now waiting for new friends to join Eki.

A Night Out

As decided in the meeting 12 friends gathered at Nand's place on Saturday evening though it was raining heavily. After dinner prepared by Nanda and her friends all were not ready to sleep but busy in talking and sharing their thoughts which was not posible otherwise. all have enjoyed a day in Mumbai followed by a movie on Sunday noon. It was nearly 3.30 p.m. for lunch on Sunday noon. But no complaint from anyone. Here are some photos of our friends enjoying dinner on Saturday night.

Anandyatri

Hi,
In today's Loksatta, I came across a news - Anandyatri. Its a supporting group for singles above 45 yrs. of age to share, care, talk and enjoy the life together. I contacted on the mob. no. and had a word with Mr. Oak. He mentioned that he ws aware about us but had no details. He has taken my name and mob. no. and will be contacting me for a metg. when it will be decided. I said that I would like to attend yr mtg. with all of us to know more about your activities and for the exchange of thoughts.
Happy to know about Anandyatri and thought to myself that now Eki is 4 yrs. old and new people are coming forward to unite and live happily with each other.
What else we look for in our life. A happy day.

A Night out

Hi,
In the meetting of 4th Saturday, alongwith the picnic,an overnight get together was planned as suggested by Vandana of Goregon and Kamal Bhosale at Urmila's residence at Mulund on 3rd and 4th July. Just to meet and enjoy eachothers company. Urmila promptly responded for the thought and invited all at her place. All will be getting a chance to relax leisurely after a weeks hectic schedule. It will be refreshing to all and go back to work with energy.
Thanx to Urmila for inviting and to Vandana and Kamal for this homely idea.

A Letter to Ms.Nanda

Hi,
As mentioned on the blog, I contacted to Mr.Sumedh Wadawala on phone. After congratulating him about the book, I informed him about our group and enquired him about Ms. Nanda's present state of mind. He told that she is staying with one of her niece who is there for her further education and I do'nt think that Ms.Nanda will join the group or attend yr meettings as she is not that extrovert. I said o.k., but can I write a letter to her and inform her about our activity? Mr.Sumedh said yes, why not? You can and inform me as well.

Next day I postd a letter to Ms. Nanda about her daring of writing a book and informed her about us saying that If u r happy with yourself, fine, but if u feel like talking,sharing,interacting with us please feel comfertable. You will get your space and few friends as well.
I sent a copy of this letter to Mr. Sumedh and after 3 days he informed me that he has received the letter copy.

Now let us wait and wish for a favourable reply from Ms. Nanda Meshram.

Varsha Sahal

Hi,
Yesterday being 4th Saturday of the month, it was our meetting day. 11 friends attened the mtg. As expected a picnic has been planned on 31st July for 2 days to Bhimashankar. Roads smooth and clean and hills will be green, small waterfalls jumping from the hills and if lucky enough the fog will be welcoming to all of us on the way to Bhimashankar. Seen in the photo was a dreamy picture hidden behing the clouds of Bhimashankar. Looking forward to experience on a rainy day with bubbly,sporting and charged friends of Eki Support Group.

Varsha Sahal

Hi,
As its raining, all are looking forward for a grand,wet,green Varsha Sahal of the group. Few r busy with location hunting, costing, planning for it.
Thank God, this year it rained in time and enough to plan a Varsha Sahal.

The Book - Mi Nanda!

Hi
Today I read the book Mi Nada!.It is about Mr.Keshav Meshram and Mrs.Dr.Nanda's life.
She was his studene and later married him.After 13 yrs of married life, he passed away.
She is alone as there was no child out of this marriage.
At the end of the book she has mentioned about spending her remaining life all alone.
I am thinking to meet her.
Trying to contact her through Mr.Sumedh Wadawala.

Rain Rain No Train

Hi,

Now as rainy season has begain, I think of women. If they stuck up in slow train or no train situation,It is diffcult for them and if a single like me,then it is more frightening.True,nobody awaits for me at home, but that doesn't mean I should reach late. But if we r connected with each other with the help of a group, at least we will think of visiting our nearby friend and be safe.
Once the situation is back 2 normal we can move on.And a thought of security itself gives us the seuirity.
Further to it I would like to appeal all that If at all u know nobody, still u extend a helping hand to an old,young woman and offer her the shelter.By this not only u r helping them but gaining something more. If u do something like this post on it and share with others.

A New Member

Last week I recd.a call from a man to know more about this group for his sister who is back with a son .Most of the time she is depressed. He wants her to join the group and get some happiness and try to come out of her present state of mind. I told him about our mtg. and asked to send her on the note that when she will meet many like her with smiling and cheerful attitude she will change her view and look at the situation with positive attitude.According to me if u r financially independent and with sound health u r able to lead your singlehood more meaningfully than in the family.

After reading about the Support Group in a magazine a lady called up from Jalgon-Vill.Pachora.She is a Zila Parishad Primary teacher and dropped by her husband who is in Mumbai working in Railway.She said that I amleading lonely life in this village and no friend as AM ALONE.After reading your article I felt relieved and happy that in city like Mumbai also some women r like me.And they r coming together to come ot of this lonliness. She attended our 1 meettting at Dadar of 2 hours after travelling for 28 hrs. and met all of us.

I think what would have drived her to come to Mumbai for a meeting?

Our same condition or to see other like her?
Now whenever she comes to Mumbai for her work we provide her the place to stay.
